Ballygullen 1 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was located in a dry field that slopes from the north-west to the south-east.
The excavation has revealed evidence of three post-holes and one stake-hole that did not seem to form a discernible pattern. The archaeological features were found centrally within the CPO and there is no evidence for the site continuing outside the road-take.
One of the post-holes yielded a flint find. The post-hole, which was circular in plan, measured 0.3m in diameter and 0.09m deep and contained a single soft mid-brown sandy charcoal-flecked fill.
Four other flint artifacts were recovered from the topsoil. A post-medieval pottery fragment, identified as a glazed red earthenware body sherd (17th–20th century), was recovered from the fill of a modern ditch.
