Ballybanoge 1 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was defined to the north by a road.
Ballybanoge 1 consisted of a series of shallow pits, a post-hole, a stake-hole, evidence of modern stone clearance and non-archaeological features.
One of the shallow pits was subcircular, measured 0.3m by 0.25m and was 0.12m deep, with a fill of loose brown/grey silty clay. A sherd of possible prehistoric pottery was found in the fill of this pit. A possible post-hole with a diameter of 0.34m and a depth of 0.13m was filled with light-brown sandy silt. A single stake-hole was also identified in this area. A possible spindle whorl made of fired clay and a struck flint were also recovered from the site.
A series of large stone dump cavities were recorded across the site, filled by large boulders, which indicated field clearance and improvement. A number of other non-archaeological features including stone sockets, stone drains and root cavities were recorded across the site.
