Excavations at Arnestown 3 were undertaken on behalf of Wexford County Council as part of the Stage (iii) archaeological services contract prior to the commencement of construction of the N25 New Ross bypass road scheme.
Excavation revealed a small ex situ spread of charcoal and heat-affected stone measuring 0.42m in length, 0.33m in width and 0.01–0.02m in depth. It seems to have originated from the upcast of a modern drainage ditch, suggesting that fulacht fiadh activity was present in the vicinity of the site, outside of the road-take.
