Testing was undertaken in advance of construction of a proposed housing development at Raharney, Co. Westmeath. The site was located on the south of the Deel River on the western outskirts of Raharney village close to the site of WH020–005. The area of the proposed development had been extensively modified during the construction of a now defunct mushroom-growing business. No archaeological features were identified during the testing. Extensive deposits of peat were identified adjacent to the river and it is possible that archaeological remains may be present in these deposits. The proposed development will not impact on the peat deposits.
