2010:650 - ISLANDIKANE EAST, Waterford

Testing was carried out prior to granting of permission to erect a private dwelling. The site is located c. 400m from a ruined medieval church, Islandikane South (WA026–03301) and the associated graveyard (WA026–3302). Six trenches were set out. Five were excavated in the area where the house and garage are to be situated and the sixth in the area of the percolation bed. No significant archaeological material was encountered during the testing. The path of an old stream was detected and a small area of burning was observed.
