Two test-trenches were opened on the imprint of the site of a farm shed at Mylerstown, Clonmel. The site is within the constraint area of a castle (in ruins), which is on the opposing side of the public road to the farmyard.
Nothing of an archaeological nature was revealed during testing. Local information had indicated this particular site had been quarried for limestone to construct the farmyard, with material from other areas of the farm redeposited in the subsequent excavated area. This was confirmed by the testing works with a ridge of shelf limestone at the western end of Trench 1, the redeposited infill in the central section and a second shelf of limestone near the eastern terminus of the trench.
