Because of their proximity to Lurgoe dryland island and the previous discovery of a substantial hoard in the area (Derrynaflan hoard), a detection licence was applied for to use a metal decector to investigate the possibility of further metal finds in the vicinity of three sites excavated by Nicola Rohan (see Nos 622–4 below), as per instruction from Margaret Keane, DOEHLG. This work was carried out on 31 August 2010 but no finds were recorded.
