The proposed area for development is located in Templeboy, Co. Sligo, on the main Ballina–Sligo road. Development consisted of grading works carried out on an existing soccer pitch. Topsoil and some subsoil (depths of 0.4–0.6m) were removed across the area of the existing soccer pitch and moved on to lower ground on adjacent the Gaelic pitch further to the south. A portion of proposed grading works were located in close proximity to SL012–059, a ringfort, souterrain and possible hut site. The western edge of development was located c. 5–8m from the base of the enclosing bank around the ringfort. Three test-trenches were previously excavated in the vicinity of the ringfort at a right angle to the existing field boundary separating the existing soccer pitch from the ringfort in order to determine if there were ay subsurface archaeological remains within the area to be graded (Excavations 2009, No. 733). No archaeological finds or features were uncovered during the course of testing on this scheme. A further programme of monitoring of grading works in the vicinity of the ringfort was carried out in 2010; no archaeological finds or features were uncovered.
