Pre-construction test-trenching was conducted at the site of the proposed upgrade to an existing level crossing on the Dublin to Sligo rail line at XS130 in Cluid and Rathdoony More townlands, Ballymote, Co. Sligo. This work was carried out in September 2010 on behalf of Roughan & O’Donovan Ltd and Iarnród Éireann. Three 2m-wide test-trenches were excavated by mechanical excavator within the footprint of the proposed development. No archaeology was identified in any of the trenches.
