Two separate monitoring programmes, each lasting one day, were carried out at Brickeen, Castlebaldwin, Co. Sligo. The first phase of fieldwork, in May 2010, consisted of monitoring an extension, alterations and associated site works to an existing dwelling. This development area measured approximately 10m east–west x 5m and consisted of two small raised areas on either side of a small north–south-oriented footpath. The second phase of fieldwork, in December 2010, involved monitoring topsoil-stripping of two small areas, one measuring 34m x 1.5m and the other measuring 15m x 1.5m.
The development area is located 22m south, at its nearest point, of a ringfort (SL034–197). No archaeological features or artifacts were revealed in any areas of land-take as a result of monitoring.
