The development site is located approximately 17km north of Ballinasloe and 18km north-west of Athlone. It will involve the construction of 16 2.5 MW turbines, a switch room measuring 85.5m2 and approximately 7.75km of unsealed 5m-wide access track.
A programme of unlicensed monitoring was carried out on the mechanical excavation of 21 geological test-pits located within the proposed development area. Test-pits were on average 1m long x 0.7m wide. No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed in any of the areas of land-take as a result of monitoring.
