2010:576 - CULLIAGHBEG, Roscommon

Test-trenching, lasting two days, was carried out at the extension of a small sand and gravel pit at Culliaghbeg, Ballinasloe, Co. Roscommon. In total 1074m² of test-trenches were excavated within a possible testing area of 15,000m². The excavation of twelve test-trenches located throughout the proposed development area failed to reveal any archaeological features or artifacts. In all trenches topsoil directly sealed geologically deposited strata. No archaeological features or artifacts were revealed as a result of testing.
