The site is in Ballinrink townland, Ballinacree, Oldcastle, Co Meath. An earthwork site, ME008–022, is within 300m of the site of the proposed development. As a condition of planning to change the use from an agricultural field to use as an athletics field, it has been requested that a site assessment be carried out. Excavation of a series of test-trenches across the footprint of the development was undertaken. Testing was carried out on 9 September 2010. A mechanical excavator with a toothless bucket was utilised to excavate the trenches. No archaeological deposits were uncovered.
