Monitoring took place adjacent to a constraint area surrounding MA038–017, an enclosure, overlooking Lough Conn, at the start of pipe-laying for the Ballina regional water supply scheme. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered. The scheme will continue for a distance of 4km and monitoring is taking place in greenfield areas where a wayleave strip 6–10m wide is being carried out by mechanical digger. Prehistoric and early medieval monuments are known from the area and the scheme also runs through demesne land formerly belonging to Deel Castle.
