Trial-trenching was carried out at Shrule townland on 5 June 2010 at the site of a single-house development. The excavation of five trenches at the site of the proposed development did not yield any archaeological features or material. The stratigraphy in all trenches was almost entirely homogeneous, comprising natural, undisturbed soils and sand.
