A programme of monitoring at Kilgellia, Co. Mayo, was carried out on behalf of Hutchison 3G Ireland. The proposed development involves the construction of a 15m x 10m compound to contain a 30m-high lattice mast with antenna and attached transmission dishes along with fencing, a new access track and associated site works, as part of the Government’s National Broadband Scheme (GNBS). Monitoring took place of all groundworks within the footprint of the access track leading from the existing access track and extending approximately 200m south, west and north in a wide curve, and the compound area, measuring a further 15m by 10m.
No archaeologically significant features or finds were found during monitoring.
