A mound in the bog at Aghoos was identified as a potential archaeological site during field-walking undertaken as part of an EIS. This mound was located in close proximity to a proposed development and test excavation was carried out. A 15m-long test-trench excavated across the mound found that it was a natural build-up of peat formed around an old tree stump.
