Monitoring was untaken along the path of a distribution road to a small proposed housing estate within the townland of Kilcurry, Dundalk, Co. Louth. Monitoring of topsoil-stripping revealed one area of archaeological potential consisting of part of a burnt-mound spread. This area was subsequently excavated during February 2010. Excavation revealed four shallow pits along with a shallow layer of burnt-mound material within the wayleave of the distribution road. The features are thought to represent the truncated remains of a Bronze Age burnt mound. Further monitoring will be carried out on the project.
