Monitoring was carried out in advance of the construction of a critical care unit and associated works at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital campus, Dooradoyle, Co. Limerick. The site is located within an architectural conversation area and there is an existing protected structure on the hospital campus (RPS No. S.E. 30 hospital chapel). No works are proposed to the protected structure as part of the current planning application. LI013–038 (a ringfort) is located close to the development. A buffer zone was fenced off around the monument prior to the start of excavation works. Groundwork associated with the development was monitored. No archaeological features or artifacts have been found. This work was completed early in 2011.
