2010:439 - MANORHAMILTON: Centra, Main Street, Leitrim

Monitoring was carried out during excavation works within the footprint of this development. The area for development was located at the eastern end of Main Street in the south-east area of the town. The site, 100m north–south x 45m, was roughly rectangular in shape and orientated north–south. A layer of concrete and hardcore material, 0–0.3m deep, formed the upper layer across the site. Below this a layer of rubble and modern debris was identified ranging from 0.3–0.6m below existing ground level. From 0.6m to 0.9m, an undisturbed layer of peaty material was identified; this overlay subsoil of orange/brown clay material. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were identified during the course of monitoring this development.
