Testing was carried out at this site by Tony Cummins in 2007 (Excavations 2007, No. 966) where the ditch outside the city wall was identified in one trench at the south end of the site. This licence was transferred to the author in 2010 and two test-trenches were opened further north outside the line of the wall to again identify the ditch. The outer line of the ditch was not identified in the trenches although material identified as ditch fill by Cummins in 2007 was found.
