It was proposed to extend the western end of the runway at Kerry Airport, Farranfore, in order to provide a runway end safety area (RESA). Test-trenching was carried out on foot of a request for Further Information from Kerry County Council. Eight trenches were excavated. In all trenches, peaty topsoil overlay hard-packed, stiff, grey-brown, stony subsoil. There was evidence that drainage channels had been excavated into the subsoil; these were interpreted as modern. Nothing of archaeological significance was observed and no artifacts were recovered.
