Pre-construction testing was conducted at the site of the proposed upgrade to an existing level crossing on the Ennis to Athenry rail line at XE124 in Lavally townland. This work was carried out in September 2010 on behalf of Roughan & O’Donovan Ltd and Iarnród Éireann. Six 2m-wide test-trenches were excavated by mechanical excavator within the footprint of the proposed development. No archaeology was identified in any of the trenches.
