Testing was carried out in advance of a proposed single-house development at Lackan, Ardrahan. The proposed development is situated in the vicinity of the zone of potential and to the north-east of a multivallate ringfort and souterrains (GA114–109, National Monument 627). Six trenches were opened on the footprint of the proposed development. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered during the testing.
