Three test-trenches were hand-excavated across a series of earthworks consisting of earthen banks and ditches located to the south-west of enclosure GA016–038 (001) at Clashaganny. These features may be the remnants of associated field systems. They were identified during field-walking undertaken as part of the EIS on the proposed road development and further defined by a topographical survey (Harrison 2009). They were located within and adjacent to the preferred route of the proposed N17 Tuam to Claremorris road development. Test excavations established that the field banks and associated drainage ditch date to the 18th and 19th century and therefore are not related to the enclosure located to the north-east.
