Pre-development testing was undertaken at the site of a proposed development at Carrowgarriff North, Co. Galway. The development will see the construction of a two-storey dwelling-house, garage, septic tank and percolation area. Three trenches were excavated through the site in the course of testing. No features of archaeological significance were encountered. Excavations in Trench A indicated that large quantities of stones cleared from surrounding fields were dumped in this area. The archaeological record indicates that an archaeological monument, GA113–078, a ringfort and children’s burial-ground, survives to the east of the proposed development site; however, no trace of this monument survives aboveground.
