Monitoring took place associated with the reduction in width of a farm roadway in the townland of Ballytrasna c. 3km north-west of Tuam town. The monitoring was required following the direction of the court in relation to a case taken by Galway County Council against the owner of the site in respect of the construction of a farm road in close proximity to GA029–025 – a ringfort. The direction of the court required the width of the road to be reduced to 3m in the vicinity of the monument. Monitoring was undertaken on 17 July 2010. The work involved the monitoring of a mechanical excavator reducing the width of the existing roadway. No features of archaeological significance were encountered in the course of monitoring.
