The site is located at No. 57 Crevenish Road near Kesh, Co. Fermanagh. The proposed development concerns the creation of additional caravan pitches, access roadway, drainage and services. The proposed development site lies within an archaeologically sensitive area with twelve recorded sites within or on the fringes of a 1.5km radius. The sites have a wide-ranging date from the prehistoric to the Plantation period. Although none of these sites are located within the boundaries of the proposed development, two of these (Crevenish Castle, FER153–020, and church and graveyard, FER153–038) are located within close proximity. Previous archaeological investigations at this site by Archaeological Development Services in July and August 2007 uncovered a 17th-century limekiln and an associated quarry.
As part of a comprehensive testing regime agreed with Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), five test-trenches were excavated across the proposed development. Apart from a linear feature which has been interpreted as that of an old field boundary, no deposits of archaeological potential were uncovered.
