Monitoring of site stabilisation works to St Catherine’s Church (protected structure 5169) was required by the city archaeologist. The removal of collapsed or partially collapsed and structurally unstable elements of the building was achieved by re-breaking an earlier opening that had been created into the eastern wall of the building in order to allow vehicular access into the interior of the building. The vegetation within the building and unstable floorboards at first-floor level were removed. No early material was noted in the fabric of the building.
