Testing as part of the advance works on proposed route of Metro North light rail project was carried out on behalf of the Railway Procurement Agency. For the purposes of these works the Metro North route was subdivided into fourteen testing areas. Testing Area 13 was located in Ballymun and Balcurris townlands, Co. Dublin, on the footprint of the Metro North alignment, Northwood Stop and construction compound.
Testing of Area 13 was carried out on 18–19 January 2010. A total of twelve test-trenches were excavated in two fields and no features of archaeological significance were identified.
