At the request of Donegal County Council, monitoring was undertaken of geotechnical investigations for the Ballyshannon water supply scheme. The works comprise advance site investigation including geotechnical investigations—boreholes, test-pits and slit-trenches. The works area includes green- and brownfield sites in various locations between the towns of Bundoran, Ballyshannon and Ballintra. The proposed development includes the construction of reservoirs, water treatment works, access roads and pipelines along existing road and in greenfield sites.

Monitoring of the geotechnical investigations commenced in December 2010 and is continuing into 2011. To date, no archaeology has been observed.
