The proposed development at Slieveboy Road, Park (Kilgort townland), will consist of the demolition of outbuildings associated with a vernacular building and construction of a dwelling-house within the western portion of the site. Following consultation with representatives of the Northern Ireland Environment Agency: Built Heritage: Historic Buildings department, the proposed new dwelling will include the refurbishment of the vernacular dwelling and the construction of a new wing at right-angles to the original dwelling, provided an L-shaped dwelling to the immediate west of the existing access laneway at south-east. Additional works will include the provision of hard-standing for car-parking, service provision and the insertion of a drainage system to the south of the new building. Access may be provided either from an existing laneway from Gortscreagan Road at the north-west or from the existing site access leading from the agricultural laneway to south-east.
Testing was undertaken on 22 June 2010. A total of c. 235m of linear trenching was excavated within the area of proposed invasive ground works. No archaeological features were identified during evaluation works at the site. However, a full photographic and descriptive survey of the vernacular building was undertaken.
