Monitoring of topsoil-stripping/primary ground-reduction works was undertaken on 30 August 2010 at the site of proposed development which consists of the land associated with residential properties 191–195 Culmore Road that formerly occupied the site. Construction works at the site are to be undertaken in three distinct phases. Consequently, the monitoring works undertaken to date relate to an area within the south, south-west and west portions of the site only. No archaeological features were identified during this initial phase of monitoring. However, monitoring works have to date been restricted to the area defined above and it is currently anticipated that two later phases of construction works associated with the current development proposal will be undertaken at the site.
