Seventy-three test-pits were monitored during geotechnical investigation work in preparation for a proposed 30km dual carriageway between Londonderry and Dungiven. Of the 73 test-pits that were monitored, one contained a potential archaeological feature and another artefactual material. Where the potential archaeological feature was uncovered, it was recorded, covered with geotextile, the test-pit backfilled and the pit moved until clear of any archaeological features. The pit that contained potential archaeological remains was TP13570S – a burnt mound. The test-pit that contained artefactual material, TP12340S, produced 19th–20th-century pottery.
