Monitoring of trenching to install a Bord Gáis pipeline (feeder main) to provide natural gas to the outskirts of Kinsale, Co. Cork, from their existing installation at Brinny (Brinny AGI) was undertaken in December 2010. The pipeline ran from the outskirts of Innishannon village along the R605 to Kinsale via Dunderrow. The feeder main was installed by a combination of directional drilling and open trenching. The feeder main ran along the road, footpath and grass verges; the pipe trench was excavated to a maximum depth of 1.2m and generally 0.5m in width. No archaeological features were exposed in the course of the monitoring.
