Monitoring of trenching to install a Bord Gáis pipeline (feeder main) to provide natural gas to Innishannon, Co. Cork, from their existing installation at Brinny (Brinny AGI) was undertaken from November to December 2010. From the Brinny AGI the feeder main ran along the L–2036 road to the junction of the N71 road and along the N71 to the outskirts of Innishannon village. The feeder main was installed by a combination of directional drilling and open trenching. The feeder main ran along the road, footpath and grass verges; the pipe trench was excavated to a maximum depth of 1.2m and generally 0.5m in width. No archaeological features were exposed in the course of the monitoring.
