A spread of burnt-mound material and associated features was excavated at Cranagh, Co. Wicklow, from 19 October to 3 November 2009 as part of the N11 Rathnew–Arklow road improvement scheme. This site was located in an area that was previously inaccessible during the main bulk of excavations that were carried out on the scheme in 2006.
The spread of burnt-mound material was situated on the edge of a stream which had been widened and deepened so that it had truncated some of the deposits. The spread measured 23m north–south by 3.5m by 0.35m deep and consisted of charcoal-rich soil and heat-shattered stone. There were a number of pits filled with burnt-mound material sealed beneath the spread, including a sub-oval trough measuring 2.2m by 1.9m by 0.57m. There were also a number of pits in the immediate vicinity of the spread but not sealed by it.
