Testing was carried out during March 2009 along the route of a proposed sewerage pipeline that will form part of the Waterford grouped towns and villages sewerage scheme to the north of Ardmore town. The original methodology outlined proposed testing in two separate areas in the townlands of Monea and Curragh. To date, the landowner has not provided access to the Curragh section of works so this report only outlines the results of works completed in Monea. Four test-trenches were excavated, with a total length of 200m. Testing revealed part of a potential fulacht fiadh consisting of an isolated trough with an associated shallow burnt spread. North-west of the trough was a possible truncated kiln, a shallow charcoal spread and a shallow pit. No other features of archaeological significance were identified during the programme of testing.
