Excavation of a possible fulacht fiadh took place during February 2009 at the site of a proposed wastewater treatment works that will form part of the Waterford group villages sewerage scheme. The site consisted of various truncated field drains, haphazardly intersecting each other across the entire area of the site. A shallow possible former stream tributary or drainage channel, orientated northwest/south-east ran diagonally across the site. The features/deposits previously identified as a possible fulacht fiadh or burnt mound (The Archaeology Company, 2006, licence 05E0695) were investigated and found to consist of the remains of gravel deposits with heavy iron pan flecking present. Rich reddish-brown alluvial deposits were present on the riverbank in the south-west part of the site. No other archaeological features/deposits were present.
