Testing at two locations in Ballyduff East was carried out during February 2009. The assessed areas will form part of the Waterford group villages sewerage scheme at Kilmeaden. Area 1 consists of the site of a proposed wastewater-treatment works. Seven trenches were excavated across the site of the proposed development, totalling 270 linear metres. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified within the site of the proposed works. Area 2 consists of the route of the proposed pipeline as it passes through the constraint for a church site (WA016–116). Here three trenches were excavated along the route of the proposed pipeline, totalling 130 linear metres. These trenches were located within an existing road network. Testing in Test Area 2 revealed the disturbed remains of a possible wall or yard foundation. This has been interpreted as possibly representing the boundary of an earlier property located here prior to the construction of the modern school building. No other features of archaeological significance were identified.
