It is proposed to extend the existing graveyard at St James’ Parish Church, The Diamond, Moy, Co. Tyrone. The desktop survey indicated that TYR062–013, which is recorded as the site of a square artillery fort or sconce in the SMR, appears on the 1685 map of Moy by Thomas Phillips. There are now no visible remains aboveground.
The evaluation consisted of four test-trenches that revealed a series of subsoil-cut linear features that were predominantly agricultural in nature, being either plough furrows or ditches, probably dating from the 18th or 19th century as indicated by the limited pottery retrieved from the fills. The remaining features were comprised of random post-holes that were broadly contemporary with the furrows. There was definitely no indication of TYR062–013, and the only indication of 17th-century activity was a handful of pottery sherds retrieved from the topsoil.
