Testing of a proposed development site at Seskin, Donohill, Co. Tipperary, was carried out as part of an impact assessment. The development consists of the construction of a 110kV electricity substation, access road and associated site services in a greenfield site. A previous site visit and assessment report carried out in December 2008 recommended testing of a possible fulacht fiadh on the site. Two test-trenches were excavated in the area of the possible fulacht fiadh and the remaining four trenches were excavated in areas where most ground disturbance is likely to occur as part of the development. In the area of the possible fulacht fiadh no burnt-mound material or any archaeological features were noted in either trench. It has therefore been interpreted as a natural rise. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered in any of the remaining test-trenches.
