Test-trenching was carried out at the southern extent of Kilboy Estate, Dolla, Silvermines, adjacent to the regional road R499. Assessment of the site was required as part of a request for further information in relation to an application for planning permission. The development involves the construction of a single-storey dwelling-house, garage and bio-cycle wastewater-treatment unit. The proposed development lies within the grounds of Kilboy Estate (a protected structure and including Kilboy House, TN026–060). Dolla Church (TN026–061) is nearby and this is an area considered to be of archaeological importance. Four test-trenches were opened across the development site. No archaeological soils or structures were identified.
