The site of the proposed development is located two miles east of Gurteen, Co. Sligo, atop a drumlin ridge with panoramic views to the north and north-east. The site consists of a 1.5-acre parcel within a larger field of rough pasture. The proposed house, garage, access and septic system are located in close proximity to a ringfort. A total of five trenches, 10m long and 1.8m wide, were excavated across the proposed development site to depths of between 0.4m and 0.5m. No evidence of archaeological activity was revealed in any of the five trenches.
