A further information request for the development of a house, detached garage and associated works required an assessment and testing.
The field for the proposed house is 235m east of the ruinous medieval church of Carrowntemple. It is 85m east of the line of the outer monastic enclosure, where it follows a townland boundary along a stream. Three trenches were opened with a 2m-wide toothless bucket on an excavator at lengths of 63m, 26m and 37m. Undisturbed natural was reached at depths between 0.3m and 0.65m. Nothing of an archaeological nature was found during this testing.
