An assessment was carried out on a site proposed for development as a housing estate on the outskirts of Rockcorry village. Twenty-four test-trenches, 2mwide, giving a total of 1150 linear metres, were excavated by mechanical digger in the two fields. The general soil profile was grey silty clay overlying red/brown silty natural subsoil. No material of anarchaeological nature was observed in any of the trenches.
