An assessment took place on 28 August 2009 of the site of a proposed school extension to the rear of Drogheda Grammar School, Co. Meath. The site was located in close proximity to ME020–006, a church located within the townland of Stagrennan, ME021–015, a possible mill site located within the townland of Stameen, and ME021–017, a holy well located within the townland of Mornington.

A total of five test-trenches were excavated through the site, which had shallow topsoil overlying natural boulder clay subsoil. Trenches 3 and 4 contained a high level of ground disturbance associated with an earlier building phase of Drogheda Grammar School. Only one feature of note was identified during the test-trenching, a small isolated circular pit containing in situ burning and ferrous material. This feature was located within an area of ground disturbance associated with an earlier building phase of the grammar school and its overall appearance suggested that it was not of an archaeological nature. No other features or deposits of an archaeological nature were identified during the assessment.
