A total of five test-trenches were excavated within the site of a proposed dwelling-house in Staleen townland within the village of Donore, Co. Meath. It was evident that the ground level had been significantly increased over the years with the dumping and spreading of fill material. This material was represented throughout the site as a light-grey coloured clay containing stone and modern rubbish and also as a layer of grey peaty clay. The natural subsoil was exposed at an average depth of 0.9m and consisted of a brown sandy clay. No archaeological features were exposed and no finds were recovered.
