A programme of monitoring of pre-development site investigations for the mid-Meath water supply scheme was carried out at various locations in the vicinity of Navan, Co. Meath, between January and May 2009. Monitoring exposed two features, including a metalled road surface and a burnt spread, at Donaghmore and Dowdstown respectively.
The metalled surface with inset cobbles was found to the north-west of the Donaghmore ecclesiastical complex along a third-class road. Based on cartographic sources, it is likely that it dates to the late 18th/early 19th century.
The second feature consisted of a charcoal-enriched spread in the vicinity of Test Pit 13 at the Dowdstown Water Treatment Plant. It was recommended that this area be exposed to determine the nature and extent of the feature.

Nothing further of archaeological significance was noted.
