The church at Greenoge Cemetery, Co. Meath, is a recorded monument (ME045–018); the stone house, built into the corner of the church is ME045–018001 and is described as 18th or 19th century in date. The Heritage Office, Meath County Council, received a report that a portion of the wall enclosing the cemetery was in poor condition and that it might pose a threat to members of the public. As the graveyard is in the ownership of Meath County Council, an application was made to the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government for consent to carry out remedial works.
The total length of the breached and unstable sections was c. 4m. The capstones and the loose stones were removed and laid out on the ground on the east side of the graveyard wall. The clay matrix between the stones was very sparse. No artefact of any type or any human bone was recovered. It was possible to rebuild the wall by reusing all of the stone that had been removed. A lime mortar was used. This is lighter in colour than the mortar on either side of the repair, but it will darken in time.
